the new year, just another day, enthralls the masses with its promise of being special. with its promise of rebirth and renewal.

but what people don't understand is that no promise comes unless you work for it, and all magic comes with a price.

if only they would be willing to pay.

it's been fifteen years.

i love you so much, arieh.

i miss you every day. i've grown up. i've done so many things. i wish you could see the amazing progress that the world has made. and i know how very horrified and scared you'd be by all of the things going on in the country right now, too.

i'm trying to be brave. i'm trying to keep going.

and i am so, so very fucking sorry for everyone that failed you. for all of the adults who we trusted who failed all of our cohort. but especially you.
